THEFTS PREVALENT
AT WIGRAM AERODROME
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
CHRISTCHURCH, June 20
Thefts at Wigram aerodrome are very prevalent, and two detectives have been stationed there for some time, -making inquiries. This indication of conditions was given by DetectiveSergeant Sinclair, during the hearing of a case in Court, this morning. Aircraftsman Harold Edmund Dickie, 23, admitted a charge’ of stealing, on May 27, a uniform tunic, trousers, and braces, valued at £lO/2/6, the property of Harry Nalder, Major. “The Court cannot pass this sort of thing over,” commented Mr. Levvey, S.M., in sentencing Dickie to six weeks’ imprisonment with hard labour. The uniform had been recovered, said the Detective-Sergeant, but the trousers had been shortened and altered, and the tunic had been slightly altered.
Dickie yielded to a. sudden temptation, when he saw the tunic hanging up, said counsel for accused. He had been in the Air Force for a year.
