WESTLAND ELECTORATE
MINISTERIAL COMMUNICATIONS, Mr. J. O’Brien, M.P., has received a letter from Mr. Armstrong, Minister of Housing, to the effect that tenders are being called for the erection of six communal garages and 12 tool sheds at the State houses at Holland. Cobden. Tenders will close on April 24. Education: Mr. O’Brien has been advised by the Minister of Education that the Government has approved of a grant of £6l/15/- to provide additional furniture for the Greymouth Technical High School. Farm Clearing: The Minister of Public Works, Mr. Semple, has advised Mr. O’Brien that consideration is being given the use of machinery on farm lauds, but until these proposals have been finally considered by the Government, it is not possible to make an announcement as to when the machinery will be available for farmers in Westland. Greymouth Stockyards: Mr Sullivan, Minister of Railways, has communicated with Mr. O’Brien to the effect that it has been decided to concrete two of the large yards at the Greymouth stockyards, and it is expected this will overcome the difficulty experienced in wet weather.
