Rev. Clyde Carr. M.P., who made representations that the old Rakaia bridge should be retained for use by drovers of stock" has received the following reply from Mr. Semple. Minister of Public Works: “The question you have raised is one which is outside my jurisdiction, as the bridge is emit rolled by the Railways Department. I understand that previous representations have been made regarding this matter, but in view of the fact that the bridge is nearing the end of its useful life, a considerable sum of money would be required for maintenance, and the proposal is not accept aide.’’
