[by CABLE —PEESS assn.-copyeight.J

CANBERRA, January 18. Sir Douglas Mawson has submitted a proposal to the Commonwealth for the purchase of Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth’s ship, th.e “Wyatt Earp,” at present in the South Polar regions. Mr. Ellsworth has offered to sell the “Wyatt Earp” for £4OOO, which is only a fraction of its value. Sir D. Mawson is sponsoring a plan for the formation of an Australian Polar Club, which thus would be in a position to send the expedition from Australia to the Antarctic annually, chiefly for meteorological purposes.
