In a special attempt on the New' Zealand 220 yards men's breaststroke record, of 3min 1 2-ssec„ held jointly by the Empire Games representatives L. Smith (Wanganui), and J. C. W. Davies (Taranaki), W. Dyson, ot the Kiwi Club, and the Otago 100 and 220 yards men’s breaststroke chain• pion," succeeded in the Municipal Bath's to-night, in lowering the time to 3min 0 l-ssec. Dyson covered the first 100 yards in 76sec., and over the last 40 yards he put in a great sprint to finish strongly.
