GOVERNOR’S R.S.L. BADGE
DIGGER’S CHEERFUL REBUKE ARMIDALE, (N.S.W.) May 1. The Governor, Lord Wakehurst, was momentarily nonplussed yesterday by (he cheerful rebuke of a returned soldier —a member of a guard of honour which Lord Wakehnrst was- inspecting. However, ho quickly recovered' from bu surprise, and, smiling broadly, said he would give the matter immediate attention. Lord Wakehurst, who was inspecting the guard of honour, composed of returned soldiers, before a civic reception, had stopped to speak to one cf the Diggers. The man peered closely at the returned soldier’s badge v.orn by the- Governor, and then suggested that he should be a> financial meniber. The Governor looked nonplussed for a moment, and the Digger pointed out that he was wearing last year’s clip on his badge. Lord Wakehurst promised that he would look into the matter when he returned to Sydney.
