Fatal head injuries were received by Clive Humphries, 17, when a collision occurred between the bicycle he was riding, and a. delivery van, at an intersection. He was taken to the hospital but died an houi’ after admission. PRISON FOR FRAUD. OAMARU, April 20. Selwyn George Maynard, of Christchurch, was sentenced by Mr. Bundle. S.M., to-day, to six months’ imprisonment, for obtaining money from Rev. John Freeman of Herbert, by menus of a fraudulent representation. The police said that Maynard- had travelled over 3000 miles during 23 days, on a tour of the South Island in a rental car. SAFE ROBBED AUCKLAND, April 20. Burglars, [last night, entered the premises of P. R. Colebrook, hardware merchants, Anzac Avenue, and blew open two safes. From the larger they took about £2O in banknotes and silver, leaving a number of cheques behind. They found nothing of value in the second safe. They left the office a scene of disorder. ESCAPEE STILL FREE. AUCKLAND, April 19. Although a widespread search was continued to-day, the prisoner at 'the Waikeria Institute, Te Awamutu, Colin William Glass, who escaped from custody on Monday, was still at liberty at a late hour to-night. This is the second time Glass has escaped during his sentence, the previous occasion being from the Auckland prison in December, 1934. He then had a week of liberty before being arrested near Pukekohe. COUNT VON LUCKNER. AUCKLAND, April 19.

After an absence of several weeks on a lecturing toui’ of southern centres, Count, von Luckner returned io Auckland by train to-day. He was accompanied by Countess von Luckner. He will conclude'his New Zealand visit in about, eight days’ time, when he will leave in his auxiliary yacht Seeteufel, for Sydney. Before leaving, however, the Seeteufel will be drawn up on the Harbour Board slipway for the examination of apparent propellor faults. A new spanker boom is also to be fitted at Auckland. According to his present plans Count von Luckner will stay in Australia for about two months. Leaving the Seeteufel at Sydney, he will make a lecture tour of important centres, including Melbourne and Adelaide. From Australia he will return to Germany by way of the Suez Canal.
