SINGER’S FUNERAL. (PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT. - * PARIS, April 18. Singers participated in the funeral of Chaliapin. Requiem Mass l was sung in the Russian Church, after which a procession, including many singers, wag formed. The coffin was, borne, in the open court, beside the Opera Hpu.se in which Chaliapin had’ sung. Russians of the Opera, choir sang during a short ceremony, after which the procession proceeded to the cemetery at Batignolles, where the burial took place. All the family were present, including a son from America, BRITAIN’S COLD LONDON, April 18. After a long spell of almost summer weather, Britain is experiencing the coldest Easter bank holiday this century. There were bright intervals, with cold wind, in London. Snow fell in Lincolnshire andi Suffolk. UNIFORM SAFEGUARDS. JERUSALEM, April 18. Because Arabs have been found to be wearing clothing stolen ...from the British forces, or resembling their uniforms, the Government has decreed illegal the wearing of a uniform, offenders being punishable with a life sentence or lesser term.
