STOWAWAY TO WED MATE

PERMITTED TO LAND. BOULOGNE, March 1. A girl stowaway who had been sailing round the coast, of England for the past few weeks in a. Dutch vessel was allowed to land at Boulogne today to facilitate her speedy marriage with the ship’s mate. The Boulogne authorities received a wireless message last night from Portland, saying that the Dutch tramp steamer Fred-anja, 277 tons, was about: to call with the stowaway. Mlle. Irma, Driessens, a Belgian waitress, aged 21. M. Lamarre, the special police superintendent, at Boulogne, went aboard as soon as the- Fredauja arrived this morning. The. master, M. Lamein, told him that hisi mate, M. Dewitte. had met Mlle. Driessens, when on leave in Brussels- a. few weeks ago and had stowed her on board. The rest of the crew knew of the woman’s presence but he discovered her only a few days ago. After the Boulogne authorities had satisfied themselves that the identity papers of the couple were in order they allowed them to land. Dewitte and' Mlle .Driessens took the first train to Brussels, where they are to marry.
