RESULTS AT KUMARA MONIPERE WINS BURGER

[SPECIAL TO “STAR.”] KUMAR A. April 18. For the annual meeting of the Kumara Racing Club, the weather is sunny and there is a large attendance. The track is yielding, following the recent rains. Results: — HACK HANDICAP, six furlongs. 2 GLENACRE 1 3 OWLSGLEAM 2 1 GILFORD Scr.: Fayo. Won ,by two lengths; one and a-half. Time 1.18. Fayo was the only scratching from the Hack Handicap. Owlsgleam had the lead into the straight from Princess Margaret, Gilford and Glenacre, but the latter came through to win easily by two lengths from Owlsgleam, with Gilford one and a-half lengths away, and then Princess Margaret, | Necessary missed the start and tailed the field throughout. BOROUGH TROT (saddle), 2.27 class, , one mile: — 3 BIG NELSON 1 1 GREEN TANGER 2 5 LOUGH ERNE 3 All started. Won by a. neck; half a length. Times: 2.19 2-5, 2.20 3-5, 2.22 4-5. Prince Trans was bracketed with the winner. Coming with a well-timed run from the back of the field, Big Nelson just got up to win the Borough Handicap narrowly, in a good finish. Wicklow Lady led into the straight from Lough Erne, Green Tanger and Big Nelson. Green Tanger looked the winner fifty yards from home, but Big Nelson got up to win by a neck. Taking the lead after two furlongs had been covered, Great Memory was never afterwards threatened in the Flying Handicap, and led into the straight from Arrowrose, Copyist, and The Sandwichman. Great Memory won easily by three lengths from Arrowrose, with Copyist a neck away, then came The Sandwichman. The favourite, Monipere, took the lead two furlongs from home in the Burger Memorial, and led Potent, who was the early pacemaker, Rebel Chief and Contract into-the straight. The favourite increased his lead in the run home and cantered in six lengths ahead of Contract. Rebel Chief drifted along the back and never looked a likely winner. Contract made a fast run from last to second along the back, but was done with long before the straight was reached.
