Robert Knight, aged about 56 years, married, of Runanga, was buried by a fall of coal in O’Brien and Party’s mine at Rewanui, about 11 o’clock this morning. The fall was extensive, and as there was no one working with Knight at the time of the accident, it was not known this aftenoon, whether Knight was buried under the fall, or behind it. Rescue parties' have been at work since the accident in an endeavour to locate and extricate him, but up till the “Sstar” went to press, this; afternoon, they had not reached Knight, nor had they received any signal from him. \ The strong gale this afternoon, I brought down a power-line in Cobden. ' cutting off electric power from part of j the town about 2.45 p.m., for about 20 I minutes.
