BUCHAREST, January 3
The special services reserved for the Jews when great danger threatens were held in crowded synagogues in Rumania at the week-end. The I worshippers included many prominent ■personages who had not attended for |a long time. I Jewish merchants in Rumania are curtailing long term orders because of nervousness. Many are selling out their stocks, which are not being replaced. The Government’s anti-Semitic programme is expected to divide the Jews into different categories: (1) War veterans and their children, who will not be molested; (2) those who did not fight for a good reason, and whose case will be considered in the light of their activities since the war; (3) non-participants in the war, and post-war immigrants, against whom every possible measure is expected to be taken.
PRO-ITALIAN SENTIMENT. t ROME, January 1. M. Octavian’ Goga emphasised the pro-Italian inclinations of the new Government in a telegram to Signor Mussolini. He begged Mussolini to accept the assurance of his. constant desire to achieve a frank and cordial relationship between Italy and Rumania. Signor Mussolini' replied expressing friendship and the hope for a. fruitful collaboration. MESSAGE TO TURKEY. ISTANBUL, January 3. The new Prime Minister of Rumania has sent a cable message to the Prime' Minister of Turkey, M. Jelal Bayar, reaffirming Rumania’s sympathy and allegiance to the Balkan Pact.
RESPECTING THE CONSTITUTION.

A Government broadcast announces that it will strictly respect the Constitution, which is regarded as an indication that it will not introduce a Fascist dictatorship. New measures include the suppression of four more newspapers, and the control of theatres and cinemas, to prevent subversive entertainments. King Carol has gone to the Carpathians on a hunting trip. GERMAN DENIAL. BERLIN, January 3. It is officially denied that Herr von Ribbentrop is going to Bucharest to see King Carol.
