[BY CABLE PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.]

LOS ANGELES, December 31

A message from San Pedro says: — An added note of mystery has been given the rescue of the yacht “Aafje belonging to a wealthy hotel proprietor. Faulding, who was shot on board. The yacht was rescued by a coastguard' vessel off the Californian coast, when short of water and provisions. There were women aboard. The coastguard was informed that, after Mr. Fauldmg’s death, a man. who shot him, leapt into the sea. It is also reported that Faulding himself was thrown into the sea after he was shot. The situation was summed up: “No bodv, no prisoner.” later. 'The survivors of the “Aafje” told Federal agents that Jack Morgan, who had rented the yacht, had planned piracy in the South Seas, halting her at a small port on the Mexican coast to take in supplies. They alleged that Morgan shot Faulding several times, after which lie intimidated the passengers. and crew at the pistol point, and imprisoned them in the cabins, except his wife, whom he handed a gun to guard the prisoners. He released two members of the crew, later, and forced them to tie a heavy anchor an Faulding’s body, and throw it overboard. One member of the crew, however, pounced on Morgan, felled him with a marlin spike, and tossed him overboard, not knowing or caring whether be was dead.

Mis. Morgan informed the Federal agents: “I am sorry for what happened to my husband.” Murder complaints have been issued against two seamen, George Perrack and Robert Thorpe, concerning the slaying of Morgan. G-men explained it is intended only to hold them as material witnesses. Mrs. Morgan is also detained.
