Eugenio Oraoia, the two-year-old son of a wealthy and socially prominent Argentine family, who has disappeared,- is believed to be kidnapped by gangsters. RUSSIAN SUBMARINES LONDON, February 26. The naval correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that Russia is now believed to possess the largest submarine fleet in the world, comprising 130 vessels, of which 40 are in the North Pacific, based on Vladivostok, and 90 in the Baltic. Most of the Russian submarines are small and not designed for' ocean cruising. Nevertheless they would be formidable enough for operations either in the Baltic or in the Sea of Japan. CABINET RECONSTRUCTION LONDON, February 26. Mr. Churchill’s name is at present foremost in lobby speculation in connection with the forthcoming reorganisation of the Cabinet. Since reconstruction has become the foregone conclusion, Mr. Churchill has completely refrained from criticising the Government. FREE STATE MINISTERS DUBLIN, 1 February 26. It is officially announced that after the passing of the next Free State Budget, Mr. De Valera’s salary is being raised from £1,500 to £2,500, and the salaries of other Ministers from £lOOO to £1,700.
FOUR-POWER PACT LONDON, February 25. Questioned in the House of Commons regarding the reported offer by Germany to Austria of a four-power pact, the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs (Viscount Cranborne) stated that the Austrian Government had informed the British Minister at Vienna that no such offer was ever made.
