GREY SUB-ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Greymouth Lawn Tennis Sub-Association was held last evening, there being present, Messrs A. L. McKay (President), A. Miller, O. Cheyne, W. J. Butler, R. Gilmour, A. Winstanley and H. Dodson (secretary). The St. Columba Club was granted permission to play St. Mary’s, Hokitika, subject to the consent of the Hokitika Sub-Association, and also to play the Reefton Club.

The Secretary was instructed to forward a letter to Mr. R. Kear, congratulating him on his promotion to Christchurch, A report of the annual meeting of the West Coast Association, held recently at Hokitika, was given by the President. EASTER TOURNAMENT. It was decided to conduct a tournament from Good Friday to Easter Monday, entries to close on the evening of Monday, March 22. The following divisions are to be played: — Men’s championship singles and doubles; women’s championship singles and doubles; handicap singles and doubles; combined champion doubles; and handicap doubles. It was also decided to include junior boys’ and girls’ (under 18) championship singles, provided there were eight competitors in each event. All handicap sets are to be the best of 17 games; men’s championship singles and doubles also the finals, best of three sets, all advantage; women’s championship Singles and doubles best of 17 games and the final best of three sets, all advantage; combined championship doubles, best of three sets, all advantage. It was decided that play commence on Good Friday at 9 a.m., but that players not in attendance at 9 a.m. on Good Friday be not scratched before 10 a.m. As many games as possible are to be completed on Easter Sunday, but players not in attendance will not be defaulted. No limit in the number of entries from each player is to be made, but any player not ready to take the courts when called upon to do so will be defaulted at the committee’s discretion. It was also agreed that players called upon to assist by umpiring must do so. Entrance fees were fixed at 1/- per player for each event, with a maximum entrance fee of 4/-, the loser to pay for balls in each game. It was decided to strictly enforce the rule that players must be bona fide members of affiliated clubs.

The offer of Greymouth, United and St. Columba Clubs of the use of their courts was accepted. The draw for the tournament will be made at a special meeting to be held on March 23.

In response to a request from the New Brighton Club, it was decided to forward particulars of the tournament.
