RHODES SCHOLARS
AUSTRALIAN CRITICISM [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. Feb. 19, 2 p.m.). ADELAIDE, February 19. The Australian Students’ Congress passed a resolution, expressing dissatisfaction with the present method of selecting Rhodes Scholars. It was alleged that insufficient consideration was given by the selection committee to Rhodes’s expressed desire, tha.t emphasis should be placed on personality and capacity for leadership, and while it was not considered that brilliance in sport was a necessary quality, it appeared in some cases that inadequate consideration was given to the terms of Rhodes s will in respect to candidates’ fondness for and participation in manly outdoor sports.
