HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING [OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON. December 21. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Inangahua Hospital Board took place on Saturday evening, when there were present Messrs .1. Auld (chairman), F. Seawright, G. B. Mclnroe, F. W. Archer, W. Blackadder, and' W. Teasdale. Hie Hospital Boards’ Association wrote, thanking the Board for the remit sent, and also stating that same would be received up to January 20, also enclosing remits received, and list of Boards and- number of delegates and votes allotted ‘each Board. The Chairman was appointed as the Board’s delegate. A. McDonald, architect, wrote, offering his services as architect for the Board's new hospital building.—Filed lor reference. The Medical Superintendent reported for the month:—Admitted 16, discharged 2.3, died 1, operations 3, anaesthetics 2, X-rays 12, births 3, remaining 31, out-patients 1, attendances 4. I beg to report, in reply to the secretary's letter concerning the complaint of Mr W. Blackadder: — David Blackadder (deceased) died at 1 a.m. on the morning of November 16. The night nurse rang up Mr J. Thomas at 7.30 a.m. and informed him that his grandfather had died. She also requested him to notify his uncle and other relations of deceased. It was resolved that Dr. Bockenshire, of Waiuta, administer anaesthetics at the hospital at £25 for the quarter. The secretary referred to the question of extra comforts to patients 'at Christmas time.—lt was resolved that the same amount'as last year (£5) be expended on these. The Chairman said that as that was the last meeting of the Board this year he wished to thank members for their attendance during the year as well as the assistance they had always given them; also to the Press for their unbiased reports, and concluded by wishing all the compliments of the season, as well as the Hospital staff and inmates. The good wishes of the Chairman were returned by all members present. Mr Archer referred to the necessity of stocktaking at the Hospital.—The secretary stated that stocktaking was done at March 31, but it was not done on September 30. Mr Archer contended this should be insisted on in order to keep an accurate statement of the stock. Mr Blackadder thought that a town committee should be appointed to visit the Hospital during the month. He proposed that Messrs Archer and Seawright. with the Chairman, be that committee. —Seconded by Mr Mclnroe and carried. Mr Archer thought this was a step in the right direction, and would assist the Chairman. Mr Auld said the presence of other members would he of assistance to him. Mr Seawright said he would be pleased to act with the other members.
