CAMP DONATION RETURNED
REFERENCE TO “BLACKMAIL.” Because of certain statements made in good humour when a request for a donation was before last month’s meeitng of the committee of the of the Motueka Aero Club, the Motueka Health Camp Committee has returned the club’s donation, 10/6. The following letter was read at a meeting of the Aero Club: —"I have to acknowledge receipt of your donation of 10/6 towards the Health Camp Campaign. Your donation came before our committee last evening. In view of the Press report, my committee decided that the donation could not be accepted.' Thanking the gentlemen who voted in favour of the donation.— Yours faithfully, F. R. Tweedy, hon. secretary, Children’s Health Camp Committee.” Mr A. J. Tarleton said that no good purpose would be served by discussing the letter. Mr F. A. C. Staig: They think we have taken a hostile view, and that the donation was made under protest. Mr W. J. Mclntosh: But they must have been given some lead in adopting that attitude. Mr Staig: The previous discussion was quite good humoured. The reference to “blackmail” was more a joke than anything else.
