wood station, the properly of Mr W. T. Hazlett, a member of the wellknown family of racehorse owners, and stole three gold cups, valued at £750. Mr Hazlett and family were in Christchurch for the Grand National, and the maids were left in charge. Detectives found footmarks outside a window, through which it is supposed entry was effected. One of the cups, the engraved Epsom Gold Cup, Melbourne, was won by Mr W. T. Hazlett’s Sir Simper. The second, the engraved Riverton Gold Cup, was won by Mr W. T. Hazlett’s Ruling Light, and the third, was the G. G. Stead Memorial Cup. So far, no arrest has been made.
