It happened at a dinner party last evening (says the Auckland “Star.”) The company was discussing the great performance of the New Zealand runner, Lovelock, in establishing a world record at the Olympic Games. Talk centred on*his “form,” “staying power,” “burst of speed in entering the straight” and so on. Finally details of the running race was mentioned ,and comparisons made with other athletes. The elderly lady present then exclaimed: “Oh, I thought Lovelock was a racehorse.” Something similar characterised a recent letter from a girl in Wales to a Greymouth friend, stating: “I am sorry I did not see your All Blacks, but the fact is I do not take much interest in cricket.”
