REEFTON NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.J REEFTON, August 7. Mr. W. R-ichdale. who has been in charge of the railway station at. Reefton lor almost. live years, was met on Wednesday evening, prior to his departure for Christchurch, where he has been transferred, anti was farewelled by members of the Railway staff and well wishers. Air. A. Al. Wilson presided, and in handing Mr. Richdale a wallet of ntoes, referred to the fine qualities of their guest, who. had during his stay at Reefton worked in a quiet, tactful and modest way. The relations between Mr. Richdale and his staff and the general public were excellent, and he regretted losing Mr. Richdalo as stationmaster. Mr. S. J. Anisy -also wished Mr. Richdale farewell, apt] regretted his departure. lie offered congratulatioris to Mr. Richdale on his shift, and on behalf of the staff wished Mr. and Mrs. Richdale health, happiness and prosperity in their shift. Mr. Brockliss, Mr. Richdale’s successor, was •welcomed to Reefton. speaker’s who wished Mr. Richdaie success were J. Earl, A. E. Dawson, R. Heslop, J. AlcAlahon, C. H.

Clcaver, C. Potter. D. Robertson, and P. Wright. Air. Brockliss returned thanks for the welcome- extended. Musical numbers were supplied by Alt ssrh. G. Alurtha, G. Day, R. Wilson, S. Anisy and E. Heslop. Mr. Richdale, who was received with musical honours, thanked the speakers for the good wishes expressed, and for the gift which ho greatly appreciated.
