PALESTINE COMMISSION
AN EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT
[BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.]
RUGBY. July 22
The Colonial Secretary stated, in a Commons answer, that he hoped to announce the personnel of the Palestine Commission, and the terms of reference, on Wednesday. The Commission obviously could not go to Palestine, where the position, he said, is still serious. until sufficient order is restored to enable it to make an investigation.
Replying to another question, Mr. Ormsby Gore referred to the suggestion that there should be a temporary suspension of immigration, while the Commission carries out it enquiry, and said that he was not at present in a position to make any statement as to the intentions of the Government, beyond saying that their decision would be taken in due course on the merits of the case, and they would not be influenced by violence or attempts at intimidation.
