OPERA HOUSE. Joan Crawford, beautifully photographed, lavishly gowned .uni speaking some of the most sparkling dialogue yet. to reach the screen, is at jer very best in "I Live My Life, which is now at the Opera House. “BONNIE SCOTLAND.” “Bonnie Scotland, opening I* lida), at the Opera House, is rated as the funniest, and most ambitious of the feature-length comedies co-starring Clan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. With a delightful romance and good oldfashioned Laurel and Hardy hilaiity, the production brings the famous funsters together again alter a brief separation. Through an inadvertence they become members of a regiment of Scotch Highlanders sent 10 India on foreign duty. As “laddies from hell.” the boys become embroiled in hilarious and hair-raising adventures. Supporting them are among others. June Lang. William Janney, Anne Grey. Vernon Steele. James binlajson. David Torrence. Maurice Black, ‘Daphne Pollard. Mary (Jordon, and Lionel Belmore. James Horne directed.

“THE BOUNTY” SAILS AGAIN. His Majesty’s Ship “Bounty” sails the seven seas again. The historicship, which carried a British scientific. expedition into the South Seas one hundred and fifty years ago, crashed on a coral reef following the most famous mutiny. It serves as the setting for the filming of the sensational adventure novel, “Mutiny of the Bounty.” and one of the biggest special film productions of the year, which opens on Monday at the Opera House. The production presents Charles Laughton as Captain Bligh, Clark Gable as Fletcher Christian, the young officer who leads the mutiny, and Franc-hot Tone as the voting midshipman Byain.

REGENT THEATRE.

Jerome Jackson and Austin Melford can be relied on for sparkling comedj’ with originality and their “book" for the musical extravaganza “Heat Wave” is an excellent example of their work. It. is released at the Regent Theatre to-day. Set in a South American background, the picturesque town of San Felipe, the story is of the adventures of Albert Speed, a seed and vegetable merchant, who visits the place on the eve of a revolution. Hoffman, a gun-runner, is aboard the boat that brought Speed, waiting to land his supplies for the revolutionaries. The name of vegetables were chosen as code words for rifles and ammunition. Speed, mistaken for Hoffman, becomes involved in high-speed (farcical adventures, from riot and revolution to comedy romance, finally escaping the consequences of all —except matrimony!

“PETER IBBETSON.”.

George Du Manner's immortal love classic, “Peter Ibbetson," having achieved fame as a novel and a stage play, now takes its place on the screen, starring Gary Cooper and Ann Harding, and now running at the Regent. “Peter Ibbetson” tells one of the most beautiful love stories, a love that survived, even the separation of a lifetime. Cooper and Miss Harding are playmates and sweethearts as children. Fate throws them together after Cooper has become a promisingyoung architect and Miss Harding the Duchess of Towers. An argument that leads to the accidental death of her husband John Halliday, sends Cooper to gaol for life. Building a dream world they spend their lives together in spiritual, if not in physical, union, by summoning themselves to the other’s side in spiritual fantasy.

POP EYE CLUB

The management of the Regent are opening a Pop Eye Club at their Theatre on Saturday, at the 10.30 morning matinee, when a special picture programme will be presented. Any children can join by applying at tlie office for a membership card, on Saturday, the first of Pop Eye meetings. A Pop Eye button will be presented to every member showing his card. Gifts will be given for best attendance, and to all club members at all Pop Eye matinees. BLAKETOWN CONCERT. A programme by outstanding local artists will be presented at the Blaketown Hall this evening. The concert promises to be most enjoyable. One of the novelties will be a yodelling song by Master Jack McDonald. A short and snappy community sing will also be held. The programme has been organised by Mr. Pat Coll for the Elaketown Queen, Miss Jacqueline Reeves.
