WEDDING

BRITTENDEN—PHILLIPS. The wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, this morning, of Claire Margaret, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Phillips, Greymouth, and George, younger son of Mrs. and the late Mr. AV. B. Brittenden, Christchurch. Rev. Father Gregory performed the ceremony and celebrated Nuptial Mass.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore ivory angelskin lace over satin of the same shade. The frock was trained from the waistline, and she wore a tulle veil bordered with chantily lace. She carried a sheaf of cream and .pink chrysanthemums, and maiden hair fern. Misses Maureen and Colleen Phillips, sisters of the bride attended as bridesmaids, wearing similar trained frocks of deep but-ter-cup velvet, with bell sleeves, and cowl fronts. They wore picture caps of brown velvet leaves and floral mtiffs in autumn tonings.

Mr. Alan Baird, of Invercargill, was best man, and Mr. Leo. Phillips, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The wedding reception was held at Harker’s, where Mrs Phillips received the guests, wearing a navy costume, with hat to match and a squirrel fur. Mrs Brittenden, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of black and white floral crepe de chine, with a black fur coat, and a small black hat. When the bride and bridegroom left later by car, on the honeymoon, the bride wore a model frock of American craquelle in rose-henna shade, under a musquash coat. She wore a close fitting hat. Mr and Mrs Brittenden will reside in Invercargill.
