The installation of Brunner Lodge U.A.O.D. took place in the lodge room, Wallsend. J.P.A. Bro. Jas. Pender presided, and there was a good attendance of members. Visitors were present irom Seddon Lodge, Jtunanga, §tar of West, Greymouth, and Hokitika. District President, Bro. J. Isherwood, installed the following officers:—J.P.A., Bro. E. Anthony; A.D., B-rp. J. Cosgrove; V.A., Bro. F. Tinning; A.D.8., Bro. T. Morgan and Bro. D. Kennedy; V.A.8., Bro. J. Clark and Bro. J. Harper; secretary, Bro. H. Keenan treasurer, Bro. J. McNeish; 1.G., Bro. T. Gutberlet; 0.G,. Bro. J. Wilson; auditors, Bro. J. Pender and Bro. W. Richards. Accounts amounting to £43 were passed for payment. When the meeting closed, alj mejnb.eis an/1 visit,ors adjourned to Wentworth Hall for a social .evening, where the usual toasts were honoured..

'Thieving is prevalent ii), the district. A resident of Taylorville had the contents of the meat-safe stolen op Tuesday night. A lorry driver had about 10 gallons of petrol taken when he parked his lorry on the roadside one night.

The Taylorville Basketball girls held a long night dance in W-entworth Hall last night. The lucky spot waltz was won by Mrs R. Rofbera and J. Lancaster, the Monte Carlo by Miss H. McPhie and W. Kerr. Miss Watson supplied the music, and Miss L. Watson obliged with an extra. Mr R. Moth was M.C.
