“BORROWED” BABY

YOUNG WOMAN’S RUSE. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, May 11. A hoax perpetrated by a young woman who, “borrowed” a baby, in respect of which she obtained affiliation and maintenance orders was revealed in the Police Court, when Sylvia May Flynn, domestic, 22, pleaded guilty to twa charges of making false statements on oath. It was shown bv the police that the girl, after obtaining a miscarriage, had a. young man, Randall Gannaway, adjudged the father of her unborn child. Later, she adopted a child from a home, and produced it in support of the claim for maint-nance to which Gannawav consented. The child was later returned to the home Accused was committed for sentence.
