Mehringer scored a submission f®ll from a hammerlock in the fifth round, and Wade retaliated in the seventh round with a body press. DANNEVIRKE, May 8. Giving away 241bs. in weight, Joe Woods submitted in the seventh round to an octopus hold, applied by Earl McCready. This was the only fall in a fast, thrilling eight-round professional wrestling bout, the best yet staged in Dannevirke.
TECHNICAL SCHOOL SPORTS The annual cross-country race, held in connection with the school sports, was run off at the Greymouth Technical High School yesterday, and was enthusiastically entered into by the students, 126 out of the 135 boys at the school taking part. Although the weather was fine, the track was heavy. The race was run in two divisions, the results being as follow: — Junior: K. Seebeck and G. Forrest equal 1; D. Deterte 3, D. Stewart 4.

ALPINE CLUB At a well-attended meeting in the Old Boys’ Rooms, last evening, it was decided to form “The West Coast Alpine Club,” to embrace hiking, skiing, skating and mountain climbing. The meeting was addressed by Mr. F. H. Greenaway and Dr. W. McKay. The election of officers resulted:—President: Mr. F. A. Kitchinghani: VicePresidents: Drs. W. McKay and H. S. ! Ray; Secretary-Treasurer: Mr. M. K. ' B. Sheard; Chib Captain, Mr. F. H. Greenaway; Committee, Misses W. B. Bell and D. Pound, and Messrs T. J. J Higgins and H. H. Rattray.
