SOUTH ISLAND PAGEANT.

DUNEDIN, March 13.

The official South Island air pageant commenced at the North Taieri Aerodrome, to-day, in glorious weather. Thii/ty-two ’planes, representative of fourteen clubs in every part of the Dominion, and seven New Zealand Air Force machines, arrived during' the day, and now make and imposing array along two sides of the aerodrome. Competitions for the “Herald,” Bledisloe and Gloucester trophies were held during the afternoon,, but the results will not be available until to-mor-row.

The pageant will be officially opened to-morrow, when a lengthy programme including ispectacular events, will be presented. Among the prominent visitors expected at the pageant are WingCommander T. M. Wilkes (Director of Air Services), Squadron-Leader J. L. Finlay, Flight-Lieuts. H. Burrell and E. G. Olson, and Flying-Officer H. W. Duffey.
