The police in Dunedin are making Inquiries to discover the whereabouts of a young man who has disappeared in very unusual circumstances. Tpe man, who lives- with his mother at South Dunedin, and is employed in engineering work with a firm operating In a district south of Dunedin, was to have been married on Wednesday night. He left home in his car on Saturday to visit his fiancee, and .stayed at her parents’ home on Sunday, leaving early on Monday morning to derive hack to Dunedin, a distance of about seven miles. His people were waiting his arrival at South Dunedin to complete arrangements for the marriage, but he did not put in an appearance. They became anxious in the afternoon and communicated with the police, and a radio call was sent out at five o’clock, and again at eight o’clock, inquiring if any information could be given regarding the man’s whereabouts. No response was received, and on the following morning, Tuesday, the car was found abandoned. So far the police have been unable to discover anything regarding the young man’s disappearance or tlie cause of it. A curious circumstance is that the man rang up his employers on Monday morning and intimated that be would not be at work that day.
