RUNANGA NOTES

[our own cobbbspondent.] The monthly meeting of the Rttnanga Women’s Institute took place yesterday in the Presbyterian Schoolroom. Mrs Boddy presided over a large attendance and opened the meeting with the Institute song. A motion of sympathy Was passed to Mrs Hill and Mrs Currie in their recent bereavement. Mrs Swan gave her report of the Dominion Conference at Auckland and was awarded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition was pastry and tinfoil pictures, and re-sulted:—-Pictures, Mrs Oakley 1, Mrs Leo 2. Mrs Williamson and Mrs Humbly (equal) 3. Pastry: Mrs Oakley 1, Mrs Piner 2, Mrs W. Duggan 3. The competition next month will be a shopping bag and plain toffee. The rest of the afternoon took the form of an entertainment in honour of Mrs Boddy (senr.), who recently celebrated' her diamond wedding. On behalf of the members, the President presented her with an umbrella. Mrs Boddy suitably responded. M[rs J. Braithwaite spoke in glowing terms of the good work done by Mrs Boddy, while in the nursing profession. Mrs Barker endorsed these remarks. Items were Tendered by Mesdames Scott. Morrow, Kennedy, Unwin, Smith and Barker. The guest of honour handed wedding cake around’. The meeting was brought to a close by singing the Canadian Ode.
