MAN’S 169 OFFENCES

NO CRIMINAL INSTINCTS. A young man who was stated at Cheshire Quarter Sessions, recently, to have committed 169 indictable offences, way said to have been discharged from Borstal after he had served 10 months of his first term of three years there, on the ground that he had no criminal instincts. He was Knowles Bebbington, 2‘J, a labourer, of Oldham, and he was sentenced to two years’ hard labour on pleading guilty to larceny. He asked that 97 other cases should be taken into consideration. , Counsel said that at the age of 15 Bebbington was sent to Borstal when 17 cases against him were considered. He had been sent to Borstal twice since.
