DAMAGE BY FROST.

LONDON, May 24.
The “Daily Herald” says that recent frosts have played such havoc with the fruit and potato crops in Britain that the whole system of tariffs and quotas may be extensively relaxed. Mr W. Elliot is devising plans to encourage shipments of fruit and potatoes from abroad in order to make up an unparalleled Home deficiency. The apple orchards in all parts of the country have been stricken. Most of the fruitgrowers, are facing enormous losses.
