EWES IN DEMAND.

CHRISTCHURCH, March 20. Normal seasonal entries were the rule at to-day’s Addington market. A good sale for both fat and store sheep. Store Ewes: Heavy entries, with a few better lines. Values for sound morphed ewes were up by 1/6 to 2/per head on last week, the strong demand at the ewe fairs and the good rains firming the market. Best twotooths made to 33/3 and sound-mouth-ed to 22/3. Many pens of the latter exceeded 20/-. Fat Lambs: A slightly easier sale for light lambs. The best made to 26/10, heavy 22/6 to 25/-, others 15/6 to 22/-. * Fat Sheep: 4100 penned and a good sale, heavy ewes being up by 2/- a head, and export by a shilling. Wethers also improved by a shilling a head. Extra prime heavy wethers to 30/4, prime heavy 26/- to 28/6, prime medium weight 23/- to 25/-, medium quality 20/6 to 22/6, light 15/- to 18/6, extra prime heavy ewes to 25/-, prime heavy 20/- to 23/6, prime mediumweight 16/6 to 19/6, ordinary 12/6 to 16/-, light and aged 10/- to 12/-. Fat Cattle: 525 penned, mostly light steers and inferior cows. For the few good pens of steers, cows and heifers there was a free sale at last week’s prices, but a big proportion of inferior cattle was down by 10/to 15/- a head. Extra prime heavy steers to £ll/7/6, prime , heavy £8 10/- to £9/15/-, medium- weight prime £7/10/- to £9, ordinary £4 to £7, light to £3/15/-, extra prime heifers to £B/17/6, prime £4/10/- to £6 10/-, ordinary £3/5/- to z £4/5/- t light to £3, extra prime cows to £7/12/6, prime £4 to £6, ordinary £2/5/- to £3/15/-, light and aged to £2/10/-. Fat Pigs? A medium entry in the fat pig section. A good demand throughout, porkers being, very firm, with an increase in values. Choppers £2 to £4/16/6, baconers 50/- to 57/6, heavy £3 to £3/7/6, extra heavy to £3/14/6, average price per lb 5Jd to 6d. Porkers 35/- to £2, heavy £2 2/- to £2/7/6, average per lb 61d to 7d.

MATAKI ACCOUNTS. AUCKLAND, March 19. ■ The third annual accounts of Mataki Gold Dredging, Limited, operating near Murchison, show a net profit of £2316 for the year ended December 31. Two interim dividends of one penny a share each, absorbed £2812,. and £7O is carried forward against £566 brought into the accounts. The directors report that the nature of the ground at present being worked indicated that virgin country would be entered in the next few months. * PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE Estates of a value of £561,977 were' reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during February. On 31st March, 1934, the total value of the estates under administration by him was £60,760,493, and the new business for the eleven months ended 28th February, 1935, was £5,569,098 compared with £4,682,337 for the corresponding period last year. Grants of administration niade by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 129 for the month. During the month 338 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody by living testators and 317 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators.
