DUKE OF GLOUCESTER

PROGRAMME REVISED. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, December 27. The Duke of . Gloucester’s programme has been curtailed in order to give His Highness the fullest opportunity of resting his injured foot. The improvement in its condition was maintained to-day, but he continued to wear a slipper, and to avoid walking whenever possible. Thus in the adjusted schedule his Friday and Saturday engagements, which would have required walking have been eliminated. These include a projected walk to Waitomo Caves, and the Franklin dairy factory. The Duke will now leave Auckland for Hamilton by the royal train at 10.45 a.m., en route for Cambridge •and Ohaupo, where he will rejoin the royal train for the National Park at 5.30 p.m. At this stage, the original programme will be resumed, with 10.30 on Saturday night, as the hour of arrival of the Prince at the Chateau Tongariro. IMPROVEMENT REPORTED. AUCKLAND, December 28.

It was announced to-day that the Duke’s injured foot was very much better, and that His Highness was in exceptionally good form. Accompanied by a small party he is spending the afternoon in the Hauraki Gulf in Sir Cecil Ley’s launch Rongo. He has no engagement this evening.
