WAGE-CUT RESTORED
SHIPS, COOKS AND STEWARDS. [per press association.] WELLINGTON, December 21. Half of the 10 per cent, cut in wages has been restored to. the cook* and stewards of the Union Steam Ship Company, and also to those on the Shell Company’s Paua, and the Westport Coal Company’s Canopus. This is in pursuance of an agreement reached this week. The increase is retrospective to December 1, and the Marama, which left Auckland yesterday for Sydney, is the first vessel on which the restoration becomes effec-. five.
CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYMEN. CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. Under agreements which have been negotiated between the Tramways Union and Tramway Board, the ployees will receive increases in their wages ranging from 5 per cent, for the traffic staff to 11 per cent, for . the permanent way men. The meh in the enquiry staff will also benefit. An agreement has been concluded, but has not yet been approved by the full Board, and until the agreement is approved, the details are not being divulged. There *is no doubt, however, that the Board will ratify the agreement.
