[our own correspondent.] I REEFTON, December 21. Mr A. Thompson was in Reefton yesterday, rind left for Canteibuiy this morning. Mr J. Horrach was a passenger yes-, terday for Canterbury. f The members of the Reefton Eranch of the Women’s Institute held a Christmas party in the Gymnasium yesterday afternoon. There was a bumper attendance of children and parents, and Father Christmas arrived, and from a well-laden Christmas tree distributed gifts to the children. The kiddies were provided with refreshments and the parents enjoyed afternoon tea. > At a sitting of the Warden s Court; yestdi'day, before Mr H. Morgan, Warden, the following applications were dealt with: — W. J Morris, for a certificate ot protection over two claim licenses for three months. —Granted. A. Neilson and W. Kinley, for a prospecting license over 3 acres in Block XIII. Waitaliu S.D. —Granted,
subject to existing rights and usual Forestry conditions. N. A. Walli£ for six ordinary prospecting licenses covering 560 acres odd in Block XII, Inangahua S.D.— All granted, four being subject to 1 usual Forestry conditions. I C. J. Willis, for an ordinary prospecting license over 70 acres in Block X, Reefton S.D.—Granted. G. B. Mclnroe for an ordinary prospecting license over 25 acres in Block VII, Mawlieraiti S.D. —Granted. At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr H. Morgan, S.M., in
the civil cases, J. W. Chalk and Co. v. K. Newcombe, judgment was given for plaintiff by default for £2/19/6 .and costs £l/9/6. W. F. McArthur v. T. Phillips. Judgment for plaintiff for £l6 and costs £4/2/-, and order made that defendant deliver up possession of tenement on or before January 31. E. V. Jones v. A. Freeman, plaintiff by default for £l2 10/-, costs £2/16/-. T. Dellaca v. N. Margotts. Plaintiff bjy default for £l/10/-, costs 10/-.
