A Sydney cablegram announced the death of Right Rev. Monsignor J. P. Moynagh, aged 81, the eldest priest by ordination in the archdiocese of Sydney. He was ordained in 1882.

The death occurred on Wednesday, at his residence, Amberley, of Thomas Moore Arthur, husband of Mrs Harriet Arthur, aged 75 years. Deceased, who was formerly a railway employee, was at one time Stationmaster at Greymouth. Mr Anthony Arthur, of Turamaha Street. Greymouth, is a’ son of the deceased.

Mr A. H. B. Jones, who was recently appointed Assistant Inspector for New Zealand of the Bank of N. S. Wales, in succession to Mr F. W. Manns, who retires at the end of the year, has now received notice of appointment as Inspector of the Central Division of New South Wales for the Bank. Cardinal Macßory, Archbishop of Armagh, who as Papal Legate presided over the Eucharistic Congress in Melbourne, will arrive at Auckland on January 7, and leave for San Francisco on January 12.
