CRICKET
CHRISTCHURCH BOYS’ VISIT. Two boys’ representative cricket matches were commenced this morning, at the Recreation Ground, between Canterbury representative teams and elevens from the Greymouth Technical and Marist schools, the Christchurch senior team playing Technical and the juniors playing Marist. In the senior game, Technical batted first, and at lunch had scored 110 for 9 wickets. With the exception of Knapp and Vaughan, none of the batsmen reached double figures. Knapp scored 56 by good sound cricket, and looked set for a big score when he mis-hit one into a fieldsman’s Hiands. Vaughan also batted well, though not as successfully as Knapp. The best of the Canterbury bowlers was Howell, a fastish right-hander, who had taken 4 for 14 off 9 overs at lunch. MARIST’S SMALL SCORE. Tho Marist-Christchurch junior match is being played on the No. 2 wicket at the Rec. Marist batted first, but were all at sea to the visitors’ bowling, and the innings closed for 32 runs. All the foui’ bowlers tried secured cheap wickets. At lunch, Christchurclf had passed the Marist total with 8 wickets in hand. ENGLISHWOMEN’S TOUR. (Reed. December 19, 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 19. In women’s cricket at Newcastle, today. England in the first innings lost 1 wicket for 184 declared (MacLagan not oiit 103, G.
