ENTERTAINMENTS
OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT The big attraction for to-night and Thursday, “That’s a Good Girl,” is based upon the famous stage success. The story introduces Jack Barrow, played by Jack Buchanan—an impecunious man-about-town dunned by creditors, and besieged by bailiffs, who suddenly hears that he can claim half a million pounds in the South of France from an aunt he has never seen. The one stipulation is that he must take with him, when he goes to claim the money, some attractive and distinguished young men to protect Aunt Helen’s ward, Moyra, who also inherits half a million, from the attentions of fortune-hunting gigolos. Jack Buchanan is supported by a firstclass cast, including Elsie Randolph, Vera Pearce, Garry Marsh, William Kendall, Dorothy Cutler, Anthony Hoiles and Frank Stanmore. A Centenary Air Race news reel will be an added attraction. At Blackball to-night, “Madame Spy,” will be shown, and at Waiula to-night, “A Southern Maid” and “Paddy the Next Best Thing” will be the attractions. W. I. CONCERT. Members of the Greymouth branch of the Women’s institute presented a variety entertainment in the Town Hall, last evening. The attendance was not large, owing to counter attractions, but a fine programme of variety and class, provided a bright evening for an appreciative audience. The “W.l, Coons,” with dancing, singing, and clever repartee, under the direction of Mr P. Coll, were especially popular. Much of their work was clever, and it was always entertaining. Three playettes, which were produced by Miss B. Cornwall, brought to tho front several who would do credit, to amateur theatrical societies. The plays were capably handled, and well produced. The assisting artists were: Mrs W. Cogswell, Mrs P. McDonald, Mr Clarke, Mr J. Boucher (vocalists), Miss Mavis Burgoyne (dancer), and Miss Joan Wasley (elocutioniste).
