BYRD EXPEDITION
TRACTOR PARTY’S RETURN. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.] LITTLE AMERICA, December 13. The tractor party is en route to the camp after a perilous exploration of Marie Byrd Land. It is reported that one of the two machines was so seriously damaged that it was necessary to abandon it. The five members of the crew joined the others, and will return with the single tractor. The accident consisted of a. punctured crank case, mid ironically came after the two machines had successfully traversed the dangerous crevasse area. Meanwhile the sledging party is also returning to camp, and approaching the tractor party from the west. .
