Mr. E. A. Gasson returned by this morning’s express to Christchurch. Mr. A. McDonald left to-day, on return to Wellington. Mrs. W. Fuller left, this morning, on a visit to Palmerston North. Rev. J. K. Archer left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Miss I. Robinson left by to-day’s express on a visit to Christchurch. Miss C. B. Sheppard was a. passenger by this morning’s express to Christchurch. Mr. P. Coyle, General Secretary of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association, left to-day, on return to Wellington. Colonel Watson, of the Anglo-Orien-tal Mining Corporation, will arrive in Greymouth, from Australia next week. Madame Bella Russell has been appointed Choirmaster of St. John’s Presbyterian Church. A London cablegram announced the death of the actor, Dion Titheradge, after an operation. Miss Lesley Marshall has left Melbourne, on return to Greymouth, and is to arrive here on Wednesday next. A London cablegram announced the death of Mrs Reginald Hargreaves, the original of “Alice in Wonderland. Notice of his transfer to Wanganui has been received by E. R. G. Steere, the Hawke’s Bay footballer, who is a member of the (staff of the Bank 01 New Zealand, Napier. Guests at Revington’s include: Mr. and Mrs. G. Curnow, Mr. G. Liatz (Cornwall), Mrs. D. Thomas (Levin), Mr. A. G. Macdonald (Wellington), Mr. D. C. Johnston, Mr. F. W. Bostock (Christchurch), Mr. T. H. Close (Blenheim), Mr. and Mrs. W. Prentice (Riverton) . Senior-Sergeant Maclean of Dunedin, has been promoted to the rank of subinspector from December 1 and transferred to Christchurch. Detective R. Thompson, of the Christchurch office, has received notice of his transfer to Invercargill to take charge of the-de-tective office there. Detective Thompson is engaged on the Blackball poisoning case. Mr. Charles Jagger, sculptor, has died aged 49. He was best known for the Royal Artillery Memorial at Hyde Park corner, and was engaged on a statue of the King for New Delhi. He has also been'commissioned for the sculpture of a colossal figure of Christ, to be erected ovei' the Liverpool New Roman Catholic Cathedral.—Official Wireless.
