Metropolitan T.C. .January 31, February 2 —Forbury Park T.C. Nelson Club’s finances: At the annual meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club, it was stated that for the past year the accounts showed a loss of £99/0/3, notwithstanding that the secretary had voluntarily written off the whole of his salary.

Shaw’s Small Team: J. S. Shaw has a small team in -work at the moment, the only active members being Ironside, High Noon and a Rey.de Oro filly.

G.N. Derby Candidate: F. J. Smith is devoting a lot of time at Takanini to his Great' Northern Derby candidate Bonny Azure, and the chestnut is executing her tasks very pleasantly. Smith intends giving Bonny Azure a run at the Te Aroha meeting preparatory to her Derby engagement,. where a better line on her prospects can be gauged.

A Good Effort: Now that Prince Author is racing well, D. Bennett should win other races with the Author Dillon gelding. He was responsible for a good effort on the last day of Addington. / • — New Trainer: R. Dunn has been appointed private trainer to Mr. J. fl. McKenzie’s team, and he will take up the position, made Vacant by J. Davidson’s resignation, at the end of this week.

In Steady Work: J. T. Paul has Ringtree in steady work at . Mangere, and the chestnut is in great condition to undergo a solid preparation. Ringtrue is one of the most promising pdeers to race in Auckland for some time, and has won his last six races on end. Present intentions, are to. give the son of Travis AxWorthy a run at tlie Te Aroha meeting in December, and he has only to be produced in a suitable class to hold very bright prospects.

Colonial Boy: Almost sprung a surprise when, he ran third on the last day of Addington. This fellow has a good turn of speed but he is in a hard class and does not relish a journey.

Source of Trouble: Gold Tinge wore a pole to keep her from boring in her races last week and while this may have helped her she was still bad. She has more than her share of speed, stay's on reasonably well and is quite capable of winning races, but she is not a desirable lady to have about and one of these days she may cause a field serious trouble. She has caused plenty of minor trouble already.

Blue Mountain: . • The Auckland-owned pacer Blue Mountain was responsible for a solid performance when he finished second to Indianapolis in the New Zealand Trotting Cup. He lightened up a little after the race, and no notice need be taken of his defeat on the third day of the fixture. He is to be taken north to compete in the Auckland Trotting Cup, and the grey gelding may go one better at Christmas.

In Good Condition: L. A. Maidens deserves credit tor Harvest Child’s condition. That horse appears to be better than ever. Haivest Child was foaled in 1924 and he has done more racing than would be expected from two horses. He is a great deal better than is usually thought and it will not surprise if he works his way to the best company.

Walla Walla: Australia’s champion pacer, walla Walla, is to make an attempt to better all standing records, says the Sydhev “Referee”. Ascot is the venue and the date is. November 26. The owner, Mr. L. Martin, has been laid a substantial amount if he breaks the existing record, and even if he does not do so a large sum will bes given him for the attempt. Walla. Walla will have the assistance of a galloping pacemaker, and it is hoped that wit.i the assistance of this wonderful track that he wil do two minutes or better.
