N.Z. MANUFACTURERS

CO-ORDINATION SUPPORTED [per press association.] WELLINGTON, November 15. The conference of New Zealand manufacturers considered a proposal that the manufacturers’ organisation should adopt a scientific scheme to facilitate the co-ordination of industrial units and promote still greater efficiency than that hitherto attained in manufacturing industries as a whole. After a prolonged discussion the principle was adopted unanimously and the scheme was referred to the Federation Council for completion and action to have it put into effect. “I believe that is the most important decision that has ever been made in the history of manufacturing industries of this Dominion,” said the President. Among other matters dealt with was a claim that the Government, in view of the improved finances should now carry out the undertaking at Ottawa to remove the primage duty from all goods imported from the United Kingdom. Mr. J. Hogg (Dunedin) was elected President of the Federation for the forthcoming year.
