A fire at Tuggerah Entrance, a seaside resort on the north coast of New South Wales, destroyed a hotel, a public hall, two shops, and a house. The damage is estimated at £lO,OOO. MARIPOSA PASSENGERS SYDNEY, November 14. At 11.45 a.m. the Mariposa sailed for Auckland. Her y passengers include the Wanganui sculler, Smith, and the American fliers, Turner, Pangborn and Nichol. DUKE AT HOBART ■ HOBART, November 14. The whole population of Southern Tasmania, seemingly, awaited the arrival of the “Sussex” with the Duke of Gloucester to-day. He received a reception on a gigantic scale from thousands of youngsters, including Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. Later he witnessed a spectacular exhibition of eurythmics at the local sports ground, in which five thousand boys and girls participated, the children finally forming a large map of Tasmania with the word “welcome” in the centre. There were also official and public receptions at the Town Hall and Government House. ‘‘ ' COMMONWEALTH LOAN CANBERRA, November 15. The new Commonwealth loan of fifteen million pounds opens for subscription on November 20 and closes not later than December 3. Twelve and a-quarter million will be used for public works and for relief and assistance to rural industries. The balance of 22 millions will be used for redemption of Treasury bills. The nominal rate of interest will be three per cent. The issue price will be £99/15/- per hundred pounds. The loan will be for a currency of fourteen years. .
