S. ISLAND MAIN TRUNK
HARBOUR BOARD’S OPPOSITION. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION-] CHRISTCHURCH, November 14. Lyttelton Harbour Board to-day carried a resolution, unanimously declaring its opposition to the proposal now being urged by the Marlboroiigh Progress League, for the completion of the South Island Main Trunk Line. It was argued that the line would be unable to pay its way, at any rate for many years, and that, if completed, it would not achieve the object of developing the Marlborough Province. A speaker suggested that the Government might, with the aid of the Unemployment Board, do more good by establishing better, road access between Canterbury and Marlborough.
