HAMPSHIRE TOURNAMENT.

LONDON, August 11. In the Hampshire tennis finals, results W’ere: — Men’s Singles: McGrath (Australia) defeated Malfrov (N.Z.) 6/4, <>/i, 6,«. Women’s Singles: Miss Hartigan (Australia) defeated Miss Slaney o/b. 6/3, 6 / 3 - r 1 1 TXT. Men’s Doubles: Crawford and McGrath (Australia) defeated Malfroy and Stedman (N.Z.) 3/6, 6/1, 6/2. Women’s Doubles: Hiss Hartigan and Mrs Howard defeated Misses Peters and Slaney 11/9, 6/3. Mixed Doubles: Gentien and Mrs Howard defeated Malfroy and Miss Ingram 6/4, 6/3. McGrath’s severe drives with a tw’o-handed backhand grip, although not always under good control, turned the issue in his contest with Malfroy. Malfroy revealed notable athletic qualities, and he accomplished some fine retrieving.

GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

HAMBURG, August 11.

At the German tennis championships, in the Men’s Singles, semifinals, Cramm defeated Quist 6/2, 3/6, 6/3, 3/6, 6/3; Burwell defeated Sertorio 7/9, 6/2", 7/5, 6/3. In the Women’s semi-finals, Miss Aussem defeated Miss Scriven 6/1, 3/6, 6/3; Miss Sperling defeated Miss Payot 6/4, 6/3. Miss Sperling (holder) defeated Miss Aussen 6/2, 6/3, in the women’s final. In the men’s doubles quarter-final, Quist and Maier defeated Kleinschroth and Lund 10/8, 6/8.. 7/5, 6/3. In the semi-final Quist and Maier defeated Henkel and Dekner 6/4, 6/2. In the mixed doubles quarter-final, Quist and Miss Adamoff defeated Hankel and Miss Aussein 6/4, 6/4. In the semi-final Tuckey and Miss Scriven defeated Quist and Miss Adamoff 6/0, 6/3. HAMBOURG, August 12. Men’s Singles: Cramm defeated Burwell 6 —3, 6 —l, 6 —4. Men’s Doubles: Quist and Maier defeated Vodicka and Caska 6 —2, 6 —4, 6 —3.

Women’s Doubles: Dearman and Lyle defeated Adamoff and Couquerque 6—4, 6 —2. Mixed Doubles: Cramm and Sperling defeated Tuckey and Scriven 6 2, 6—4.
