[OLTR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON. June 4. Miss Marian Meibom of the staff of Queen Mary's Hospital. Hanmer. is spending a holiday at home. Dr. Penselar and Mr. Dibble of the Mines Department are visiting Reefton. On Saturday afternoon a. lire Avhich has been burning for some time in a. seam of coal in the Burke’s Creek area near Reefton, broke through to the surfaci ami on Saturday night the sky Avas brightly lit by the Hames from the blaze which Avere leaping high into the air. The outbreak Avhich is located in an area on Air. W. J. Morris' coal lease Avhich is being Avorked by Mr. W. Wood and parly and regret is being expressed locally as this party have put in much time and expended a good deal of money on t improvements on this section of the I coal field, only to have their Avork , ruined by the fire. At. a late hour on Saturday night the glare Avas still visible in the. sky though not. as bright, as the previous night.
