CASTLE DEMOLISHED
HOME NEVER OCCUPIED LONDON, April 22. Abbotsbury Castle, the mansion on the Dorset, coast which was built for the Ilchester family but was never occupied, is now to be pulled down. . For 18 years, ever since it was completed in 191 G on the site of an earlier mansion which was burned down, the castle has stood empty. For 200 years the old Abbotsbury Castle was the home of the llchesters, but it was destroyed by fire in a night. A new castle rose from the ashes, built, it is said, at a cost, of £50,000, but its prospective tenants never moved into it. Now some of the village workmen who helped to build the castle are to pull it down again.
