Mr F. Simpson, Teremakau, lef this morning, on a visit to Chris church.
Mr P. Smith, of the Public Works Department, Gisborne, who has been visiting Greymouth,, left, this morning, on return.
The death has occurred of Mr T. Potts, J.P., aged 88, of Petone. He is believed to have been the oldest J.P. in the Dominion. —Press Assn.
Mr Alan Lane, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Greymouth, left, this morning, for Ashburton, to attend the funeral of his mother, who died at Ashburton, last night.
A gift afternoon was held recently at the residence of Mrs J. Neilson, Cobden, in honour of Miss Mavis Armstrong, whose marriage to Mr J. H. Boustridge, of Masterton, takes place at an early date. Miss Armstrong was the recipient of many useful gi/ts. During the afternoon, musical items were given by Misses M, Armstrong, E. Finch, and J. Abbie. Afternoon tea ws served by the hostess, among those present being Mesdames Boustridge, Armstrong, Neilson, Abbie, ' Hall, Paddy, Ramage, Forrest, Misses M. and S. Armstrong, M. Ferguson, E. Finch, J. Abbie, N. and I. Neilson, E. Williams, E. Boucher, I. Duncan.
