[PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CARS COLLIDE. HASTINGS, June 5. As the result of a colisison near the Kennels, at Poukara, last evening, Charles Reed, of Palmerston North, was admitted to the hospital with a fractured skull. Two other passengers in the car sustained minor injuries. Three passengers in the other car were unhurt. Both vehicles were c- xtens i v el y da m a fled. COMPENSATION CLAIM. WELLINGTON. June 4.
One thousand pounds compensation i has been awarded to the estate of j Charles Robert Dunean, aged 60, de-1 ceased, of Napier, on determination of the medical referee that while suffer-! ing from a form of heart disease, the | lifting of stereotype plates in the of-1 (ice of the Napier Daily Telegraph Co., i Ltd., helped the disease to a fatal is-
sue, and constituted the exciting cause of death. The action was heard in the Compensation Court as between Gladwyn Armstrong Wynard, executor under Duncan’s will, and the newspaper as the employer. The medical evidence differed considerably, and the Court referred the medical aspects to Dr. Frank Fitihett, Professor of Clinical Medicine, Otago University.
